The next update, and hello!

Hello, everybody! Although I've been working on this game for quite a long time now, this is my first entry on itch.io. So, hello there!

Dawn of the New Hour - Aurum Demo has 6 downloads...which is to say, 6 more downloads than I thought it would get. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Game development, it's not about the fame or publicity, notoriety or having my name out there...I've got a story, and I want to share it with you, that's all. This story has been in the back of my mind for well over a decade, and now I have the tools to make it for you all. Thank you for allowing me into your community, and thank you for giving me your time to check this all out.

Now then, update! Yes, yes, there must be an update coming along. Those who know me on GameJolt know that there are a LOT of devlogs showcasing different concepts, ideas, and "what's next" previews. Its not fair that they're the only ones that get it, right?

Here's a list of what's coming up in demo version 1.9.2:

  • Textbox issue fixes
  • Outdated scene updated and tweaks
  • Non-updated dates will be updated (example: splash screen saying 2019)
  • Any invisible backgrounds for choices should be fixed
  • A menu graphic update for three menus
  • Full implementation of the Otnemarcas Dungeon (a dungeon I've been putting off for so long for some reason, I don't know why)
  • Full implementation of a new area, a new "realm"
  • A new Save Point to teleport to
  • A new shop
  • An enemy redesign

I will also be testing out the Tournament, which is currently in an extreme alpha. Literally, built up the framework in a day, there's bound to be some issues there. There's a secret I want to add to the Tournament at some point, but I don't think it'll be in this upcoming update.

Lastly, I'll be putting in a quality-of-life change. This game was developed based on the concept of really old PC games, control-wise. Arrow keys being the main way to walk around. But I get some people are invested in the skills they've gained while playing the later games that use WASD. So, I will be adding the feature to use either one to your heart's content. Of course, now that W will no longer be "R/Next page", we'll be recoding that to "E" instead. So, WASD for movement, Q/E for L/R, AND you can still use arrow keys if you'd like.

The next few updates after this will be smaller ones, things like bug fixes, graphical updates, .png extension file optimization, stuff like that. I don't necessarily think I'll be adding any more story content for the next, mmmm, two updates after 1.9.2. However, I do plan on adding some new content around 1.9.8 and 1.9.9. If you'd like to keep this project up to date, please make sure to download the updates when they come out. I will explicitly mention if a new save needs to be made, or if you can carry over the save you have now. Changes to script coding will not be reflected in an old save, so keep that in mind!

Update 2.0 is still a fun little secret I have planned for you. However, 2.0 will not be releasing anytime close to soon.

Anyways, that's the first DevLog here, so, thank you for your time! I'll see you all Wednesday night/Thursday morning for update 1.9.2. If anyone wants anything added in before the update is packaged up, let me know and I'll put it in if I can.

Good night, everyone!
